 About Smile For Life

Since 2014, Danny has been the charity's patron bringing laughter to the North East via the amazing Smile For Life Charity.

Smile For Life Children’s Charity was established in 2007 and their vision is to put a smile on the face of every disabled and disadvantaged youngster in the North East of England.

They empower these youngsters to achieve their potential to live a full and happy life. Smile For Life do this in many ways; providing equipment which makes their day-to-day lives easier, creating wonderful and exciting experiences that enable them to make memories and challenge themselves in new ways, and can even help with bedroom and garden makeovers to create an environment which is more accessible and appropriate for the needs of disabled children.

The regular Tuesday Club and Thursday Club provide safe and accessible spaces for youngsters with a range of disabilities to come together, keep active, make friends, and enjoy being independent! The social aspect of the club is invaluable to all of the youngsters who attend, reducing isolation, encouraging new friendships and improving their all-round wellbeing.

A Little More About The Charity

The charity also provides essential work experience placements in their wonderful Café Beam in the heart of Gosforth; a beautiful café which is run by a team of young people with a variety of disabilities and learning difficulties. These youngsters help to prepare the produce, serve customers, operate tills and handle money as well as welcoming many different members of the community both volunteers and customers into their premises.

This project has been a great success since opening nearly seven years ago. To accommodate the rising demand in our region, they relocated to new premises in 2018 on Gosforth High Street which enabled them to support three times as many youngsters with valuable work placements as they previously could – increasing from 60 youngsters per year to over 180! The increase in the confidence and self-esteem of these young people is almost tangible as well as learning new skills to take into the workplace and each of them becoming a qualified Barista! Last year alone saw 6 Café Beam graduates move into paid employment, an amazing achievement!

Team Work Makes The Dream Work!

All of the work of Smile For Life is only possible with the help of so many people – fantastic volunteers, individual supporters, local businesses and corporate teams,

- raising funds, taking on challenges, supporting our young people and volunteering at our events.

Everyone at Smile For Life is extremely proud to have Danny Adams as an amazing patron of our wonderful charity and are extremely grateful for his support.

Since 2014 Danny has both inspired hundreds of our young people and hosted events which have raised thousands of pounds towards our work. He is a regular face in our Café Beam and at our annual Smile Ball where he is the most hilarious auctioneer you’ve ever experienced! We can’t thank him enough for helping to raise awareness of our work!
